Tater in the Rye

  • 1.5 oz Bulleit Rye Whiskey
  • 1 oz sweetpotato & smoked paprika simple syrup
  • 0.5 oz lemon juice
  • 7 drops Orange Fig Bitters from Crude Bitters of Raleigh, NC
  • 1 mint leaf

Sweetpotato & Smoked Paprika Simple Syrup

  • 2 cups roasted and mashed sweetpotatoes
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1 tbs smoked paprika


  • Place all ingredients in a shaker and add ice.
  • Shake vigorously for 10 seconds and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass.
  • Garnish with mint leaf.

Sweetpotato & Smoked Paprika Simple Syrup

  • Add all ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
  • Strain through a fine mesh strainer and let cool.
  • Keep in refrigerator for up to three weeks.
