Sonic’s Sweetpotato Tots: A Review
Have you tried Sonic’s sweetpotato tots? I finally got to try them on a recent trip to south Texas and was so pleased/proud/impressed! The only qualm I had was that I wasn’t offered a special dipping sauce for them, just ketchup. I wouldn’t have minded a creamy chipotle or a blue cheese – something to complement the sweetness. Other than that, the tot itself was fabulous! Here’s why:
SOLID & COMPACT
Unlike regular tater tots, these were a little smaller, very compact and could be consumed in one clean bite.
SMOOTH
If you’re expecting tiny bits of potato glued together by hot grease, you’re wrong. These tots have a smooth sweetpotato filling, like balls of crisp-fried sweetpotato mash.
SWEET & ORANGE
These are the real deal. Orange-fleshed sweetpotatoes with natural sugars that blossom when heated. And don’t forget that orange means they’re a major source of vitamin A.
CRISPY
This shell is no joke. The outside of these tots blisters just like sweetpotato fries so you know you’re getting maximum texture.
GREASE-FREE
For some reason these were not nearly as greasy as regular tots or as I expected them to be. Major bonus.
GUILT-FREE
Check out the nutritional stats – not bad!
