It’s a Great Year to Be Sweet!

We have some wonderful news for our fellow sweetpotato lovers. According to The Packer, the 2016-2017 year is lookin’ pretty darn promising for southern sweetpotato farmers. In case you didn’t know, North Carolina is the primary suppliers of the little tubers, (53% for the United States!) “because the climate in North Carolina is ideal for growing sweetpotatoes” and the crops are bountiful – if not up about 10%.

Personally, we’re just so excited that people are loving sweet taters so much and realizing how nutritious they are. These little tubers are packed full of Vitamin A, potassium and antioxidants; not to mention around 110 calories and low on the glycemic index. They really are nature’s super food!

Celebrate this year’s amazing sweetpotato crop with us by doing the #SweetSwap! Our favorite? Our Classic Sweetpotato Salad – much more exciting & flavorful than the mayo & white potato alternative. It’s perfect for the end-of-summer Labor Day cookouts, but we’re also keeping this recipe in our back pocket for the holiday season!
