Camp Blogaway: A Little Slice of Food Blogging Heaven
Last week, the North Carolina SweetPotato Commission traveled to the tranquil mountains of sunny California to join food & recipe bloggers at Camp Blogaway also known as a “Little Slice of Food Blogging Heaven.” Oh that’s right – cozy cabins, roaring fireplace, fresh air and stargazing.
You may ask yourself, why? Although our team works regularly with bloggers, the blogosphere is a wide, wide world and we want to share as many delicious sweetpotato recipes as we can!
Over three days, our team educated Camp Blogaway attendees on the sweetpotato industry, nutrition, recipes and more. Attendees had many questions regarding the methods in which sweetpotatoes are grown. While the purple and white sweetpotatoes struck a cord of curiosity in many.
Of course, we didn’t leave the bloggers hungry! Below are a few recipes served throughout the weekend:
- DIY Baked Sweetpotato Bar with assorted toppings
- Sweetpotato Creamsicle Smoothie
- Sweetpotato Curry Soup with Thai Pesto
To our liking, the bloggers loved all of the sweetpotato dishes – while many were especially impressed and interested in the smoothie, as they had not tried sweetpotatoes in such a way before.
In the end, our team had a wonderful time in the woods chatting blogs, sweetpotatoes, recipes and more! We hope many will bring the deliciousness they tried at Camp Blogaway home to their kitchens and to their readers.
